The Quadricycle Revolution We were attracted to Aixam because they offer the same qualities of simplicity, reliability, practicality and fun as the Citroen 2CV, but with none of the problems of rusting or antiquated design which limited the life and use of these vehicles. We feel that in Aixam we have found a modern successor to the type of vehicle that we, and many others, remember with affection, and hope you will come back to look at these exciting alternative quadricycles and share our enthusiasm for Aixam automobiles. Microcars, or more correctly Quadricycles, have been around for many years in various shapes or forms. Over the past ten years the French have adopted the Quadricycle, where it is common place and can be seen in towns and cities, as well as in rural areas, where these tiny cars have been taken up by young and old alike as a quick and cheap means of transport. More recently an EEC directive has been passed, that allows most European member states to drive these microcars in restricted form without a licence. At present the UK has chosen not to implement the full content of this law, but has amended the UK version to accommodate Quadricycles. The good news is that unlike Smart cars they can be driven by anyone with a minimum of a full motor-cycle licence category A/B1 and anyone with a full car licence category B. With a top speed of 70 mph UK Quadricycles are more than adequate on acceleration with stepless CVT automatic transmission for inner city use, towns and local journeys with occasional use on motorways, or in the case of the cabriolets perfect summertime fun cars. Why not use your motability allowance. Now that the guidelines are in place, small car designers and manufactures have set about to launch some stunning little models. Being surprisingly spacious, they have been designed from the outset to be practical and safe and you will find most of the luxuries you expect in bigger cars but economies that you wont! These really are smart cars. The Benefits
